Project identity
Project Excelsior (XCL) is a single, independently developed blockchain project. ProjectXcel.com serves as the primary official website for information about the project, its software, and its ongoing development.
What V1 and V2 actually meant
Project Excelsior used the labels V1 and V2 for successive testnet iterations. V1 launched as a testnet on November 23, 2021, and revealed halving, supply-to-block-timing, and legacy Litecoin code concerns. V2 began on October 28, 2022, and testing revealed orphaned blocks and smaller-block issues. XCL launched on April 8, 2025. Those historical labels do not designate two separate official XCL coins or independent Project Excelsior projects.

Project Excelsior is not affiliated with, operated by, sponsored by, or officially associated with independent gaming, entertainment, or other cryptocurrency initiatives that may refer to XCL or suggest a relationship with the project. Such third-party communications do not represent Project Excelsior unless confirmed by its official channels.

Official project resources are the GitHub organization at github.com/projectxcel, the block explorer at explorer.projectxcl.com, and the X account at @projectxcl. References to any other entity or project do not, by themselves, establish affiliation.
